About the role
The Director, USG Partnerships leads the business development process targeting U.S Government funding in one or more technical sectors (Health, Agriculture, Economic Growth, Education, Other). You will be our primary representative identifying and tracking opportunities, conducting outreach to partners and clients, negotiating teaming arrangements, and leading proposal and budget development. This position can be based in the Washington, DC area or remotely.
Opportunity identification and tracking: Using formal and informal channels, gather information on potential upcoming USG funding opportunities, maintain opportunity tracking systems, and track the evolution of opportunities over time.
Outreach: Plan and conduct a continuous program of outreach to potential partners and clients, marketing Viamo’s products and services overall as well as in the context of specific opportunities.
Partnering: Negotiate pre-teaming and teaming agreements with partners for specific opportunities, including the agreement on contract type, technical scope, and resource levels.
Proposal & Budget Development: Lead multi-disciplinary teams in the development of timely and high-quality technical and cost proposals that respond to partner needs.
Management: Supervises, coaches, and mentors one Partnership Manager or Partnership Associate. Maintain reporting systems and report performance to senior management.
Strategy: Directors contribute to Viamo business strategy by leading the development of Key Performance Indicator targets, strategy, and tactics for their areas of responsibility.

Line manages one Partnership Manager or Partnership Associate
8+ years experience in the management of and/or business development for USG and other-donor funded development programs, with a technical focus on health, economic development, and education preferred.
Demonstrated success in business development, including the development of winning proposals and leadership of effective consortia and teams.
Strong interpersonal skills, deep market knowledge, and a broad network of contacts in USG-funded development.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English required, professional proficiency in additional languages preferred.
Experience living and working in the developing world is preferred.

Demonstrated self-management/entrepreneurial skills; adaptability and resourcefulness.
