About the Role

The Partnerships Associate will support Viamo’s partnership and proposal development efforts with USAID and U.S. Government international implementers including contracting organizations and international NGO’s. This role will directly support one of Viamo’s fastest growing business development The Partnerships Associate will have professional opportunities to meet partner organizations, attend relevant local conferences, and work directly with Viamo’s global programs, operations, and tech teams. Additionally, the Manager will gain significant understanding of the donor landscape and will support the development of Viamo’s global business strategy. This position is based in Washington D.C. and will be supervised by Viamo’s Director of USG Partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prospecting & Research - The Associate will support the team’s research on past and current USAID/USG projects using advanced search tools, databases, trends, and intel to evaluate new potential opportunities. Research will support Viamo’s landscape assessment and overall business development strategy.

  2. Pipeline Management - The Associate will be responsible for reviewing all upcoming opportunities for Viamo and determining criteria for fit. They will be responsible for maintaining Viamo’s customer relationship management system and for tracking all communication with Viamo’s wide range of clients. The Associate will also compile a weekly status report, quarterly reports, and mid year and full year audits to share with Viamo’s executive team and full staff.

  3. Pre-Proposal Development & Proposal Management - In collaboration with the Director and Deputy Director of Partnerships and Viamo’s Country Managers, the Associate will prepare and maintain pre-proposal inputs such as developing pitch materials, past performance and capability statements, and project result data. Working with the team, the Associate will help track all partner conversations and participate in relevant partner meetings. The Associate will support partner engagement initiatives by attending conferences and drafting marketing initiatives such as partner presentations and conference engagements.

Team and Reporting Structure

  • Reports to Viamo’s Director of USG Partnerships


  • Washington DC; Remote on EST during COVID



  • One to two years experience in proposal development, relationship management, and/or business development with increasing responsibilities;
  • Extreme attention to detail, and ability to stay on task and complete duties in advance of set deadlines;
  • Understanding of global development, mission related goals, and key donors;
  • Passion and enthusiasm for the role of technology in global development
  • Experience or comfort working with remote teams, startups, and/or social enterprises and/or experience working globally; and the ability to empathize with people from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds;
  • Ability to think ahead and prioritize team goals; excitement for becoming an intrapreneur to help improve processes and increase team success.


  • Experience working with customer relationship management (CRM) systems or otherwise tracking business development opportunities;
  • Basic understanding of the US government donor landscape;
  • Experience working on USAID grants and contracts or working with other USG agency procurement processes.
  • Multiple years living and working abroad.
  • French language skills.
